Press play below to see some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from when the IW crew went out to the firing range to get hands-on time with the weapons featured in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
All weapon sounds in the game were taken straight from the field where as you can see we fired, reloaded, and handled each weapon with our sound crew on site to capture it all for editing back at the studio. We do this to get the most authentic sound possible as every weapon has its own unique sound when being fired and reloaded. For example, notice the distinct ‘Thump’ from a standard M203 round being fired off. It’s pretty cool to hear the sound of firing a round and moments later watching the impact downrange as targets go flying.
