Boot up, normally it bluscreens with an IFN_Corrupt message, Ive run Memtest, and done Windows Memtest, I have all the right drivers for my AMD 1480 card

Today I came home tried to boot up and it went to Recovery manager I exited and turned off my computer, i restarted in Safe mode and this message popped up:”C:\Windows\system32\authui.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.”

I’m on this site:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/thread/e335688c-3e33-48e3-ad13-1550a01227ff right now and followed it until the command prompt part, however Chk/F/R brings up a prompt that says this is locked, so I coulnd‚Äôt respond ‚Äúy‚Äù as the website told me too.

As you know whenever Id boot up Id bluescreen after windows booted up it would say PFN_Corrupt, and restart, Id simply boot up in Safe mode and then reboot and everything would be hankey dory

But I have all my correct drivers.

Anywho all was semi good until my new error: “Windows\system32\authui.dll ” Now it will do nothing but pop up and the only site I can find that adresses this is onw which tells me to do system recovery/command prompt/Chkdsk/F/R, this results in my comp saying its locked, so i cant really do anything else. I then ran the Windows Mem Test and it “failed to restart”(my computer after the test finished)
Its finals week here at UCB and I need my comp can u guys help?

I put all the parts together: But when I hook up my rig the monitor is unresponsive, the keyboard and Mouse also are not receiving power.

All the other parts are, you can see the LED and Fans on every component. and the Dsic DVD drive we took out of my old computer seems to be working.

I hooked up my rig to my roomates Monitor and still nothing.

Any possible solutions?

OK… so I once again replaced the power supply, but this time with a 230W version of a mini-ITX flavor instead of the micro ATX I was trying to use before. I have to consider noise level and heat dissipation, as my office is now in my master bedroom.

But this one should be far more solid, and not dump on us at the drop of a hat. So… barring any extended power outages, we should be golden from here…

I will try to not make it in the evening/night, but I have to break my old desk down to make way for a new L-shaped desk. So my network will be out, thus taking the TS server offline. I will hopefully have it back up within a few hours.

I picked up an extra set of the $21 ones to bring my rig to 4gb, and will probably be going Vista 64bit this weekend to be able to see the whole 4gb. I am hoping the timings are close to my Crucial Ballistix so that it doesn’t screw things up

EDIT: The $39.99 deal is for FOUR GIGABYTES of memory! I am taking this $21 deal back and getting the 4gb set to bring my rig to 6gb of memory under Vista 64bit.

Does anyone have any experience with Vista yet? And namely how well it does with games, and is DX10 as much of a difference as the screenshots make it look? I understand that Vista is a RAM hog, but I haven’t been able to get DX10 to work with my winXP Pro, and I have tried a couple of packages I found that supposedly worked for others.

I was thinking about grabbing another set of Ballistix to jump to 4gb, then grabbing the 64bit version of Vista Home, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had any luck with it. I’ve read boatloads of complaints around, but you always hear more complainers than praisers. I may even buy a matching 8800GTS 640mb and go SLI, if I need to in order to get the detail that I am seeing in these DX10 screenshots.

Still have some work to do with tier2 techs on getting my pings resolved, (they jumped by 20-30ms) so I may need to take my network down for reboots, so it may be a little flaky for the next day or two. If you get dropped, I apologize.

I also received 26″ LCD Widescreen I got an unbelievable deal on @ officemax.com – only $349!! (see other post, for those who are interested) AWESOME picture and clarity, but 5 dead pixels and a large defect dead center of screen, so they are RMAing it back. Will have to wait another week. *sigh*
