What the F@%&…
Saturday, November 10th, 2007I can’t believe that developers can’t come up with a game that rivals what battlefield brought us as a group… even given the problems BF has… It’s really sad to hear people already talking once again about going BACK to playing Battlefield, barely a week after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
COD has definitely been a let down on many levels, including both the single player and multiplayer modes. I mean, hell… it only took a total of about 4 hours to go through the entire single player game. What the f@ck? From what I remember, it took days to get through previous Call of Duty SP missions.
But WTF @ multiplayer? Could the maps get any smaller? I dunno… it just felt like stepping backwards in the multiplayer arena… not forward. It’s got the same feel as QuakeWars or UnReal Tournament… a super crammed, superfast, shoot everything in sight fragfest…
Yes… the details are crazy, but at the sacrifice of any type of squad based teamplay… (not that you can even create a squad) I dunno about everyone else, but I am really getting discouraged that any of these new games will be anything close to what we are really wanting/needing – something that we can have great squad based action like we’ve had in BF in the past. (even with its problems) I guess the next worthwhile game to look for will be FrontLines, which I am praying opens the battlefield up, allows squad creation and spawning on your squad, and is generally not just single player online like COD is.
I’ll keep on the lookout Dec. 1st, which has been rumored to be the BETA for Frontlines, and try to get us some keys.

Here’s some CRYSIS Demo movieclips I captured so you guys can see the details…
Sunday, November 4th, 2007I know it’s difficult to see alot of the detail in these small clips, but it gives you an idea of how crazy the details are in game. I realize that some people’s systems won’t be able to play at these levels, or may not even be able to play the game at all, but for those people, I’d like to think that we are here to help you get the best deals and advice on upgrades.
From what I am seeing, many people are not using their existing hardware to it’s potential, relying on the standard “let the system decide” settings, which only makes you miss out on alot. 90% of the time utilize those settings only a small fraction of your systems potential, and may even result in damage/premature failure of your hardware. (as in my case, where my mobo under-volted my memory chips)
As an example: Hopefully the help I gave to NavyKnight the other night improved his experience with Battlefield… We nearly doubled his resolution and game detail, and his rig actually got almost DOUBLE the FPS at the higher settings.
I’m happy to help walk anyone through finding out what you have, and how to get the most of it without burning it up.
Just hit me up on TS. I have also started a new “PAGE” posting (look to the right side) on setting up your rig properly, customizing settings, overclocking, cooling, etc. Like I said… many are not using their machines to anywhere near their potential, or a few simple steps can dramatically improve your game experience.
But here are the clips. (Yes, I am working on being able to play more than once.)
Character Shadow cast to ground:
The water beading off your goggles when you come up:
The detail in the water reflections/refraction:
The explosion of a vehicle with shockwave ripple:
The detail in the underbrush/terrain:
The shockwave ripple coming off of a grenade:
And even a different terrain detail shot:
